[POSTPONED]40 year anniversary
Wednesday 15 December [POSTPONED]
It is with great sadness that we have to postpone the 40 year anniversary soirée of the Association, originally planned for the 15th of December. In agreement with the government's recommendations and after discussing with the Embassy it seems impossible to maintain this event in the current health situation.
The good news though is that we are postponing this event to a new date in the first half of 2022, hoping that the situation will allow that - if not we will move to a full online event. We will let you know the date as soon as we have it.
In the coming days you are going to be contacted by our treasurer who will offer you options about the ticket(s) you bought.
One of the options will include getting your copy of the Gazette, specifically prepared for the anniversary, before the new event date.
Hoping to see you in 2022 we wish you in advance a wonderful festive season and new year.
Camping Trip
Friday 20 to Saturday 22 August
We are pleased to confirm that we are going camping! The weekend of Friday 20 August - Sunday 22 August, members and friends of the France New Zealand Association will descend on Carcans for a weekend of camping, sunshine (we hope!) and wonderful French-Kiwi friendship.
Due to the effect of Covid on the holiday season, the weekend that we expected to be fairly calm at the campground is in fact very busy. Only bare pitch places will be available - you’ll need to BYO tents or caravans. The Association has organised a discounted price of 8€/night/person (electricity and tourist tax included).
Please book by filling out this form, which includes booking dates, how many people, and whether you will be in a tent or a caravan. Payment will be due on arrival, to be sorted directly with the campground.
Some useful info
If you are arriving by train or plane in Bordeaux, and won’t have a car, there is a bus that runs to Carcans: https://moovitapp.com/index/fr/transport_en_commun-line-710-Bordeaux-924-853953-289408-1
If you are driving and could offer a ride to someone who doesn’t have a car, or you would like to be put in touch with someone who has a car because you need a ride, let us know by hitting reply and we’ll make the connection.
You’re welcome to book for longer, or only stay one night!, if you do stay for longer let us know in the survey and we will inform the campground. The Association will come together to enjoy a byo meal together on Saturday evening - details to follow.
May Pub Night
Wednesday 5 May 2021
We are gearing up for our second Kiwi Pub Night – Online Edition, a chance for ALL our members, and non members, (not just those in Paris) to get together “virtually” over a drink.
This month, fellow Kiwi in France, Finn, has very kindly offered to host an online games evening. Ideally, you will have both a smartphone and a computer so that you can interact and play at the same time, but you can also run both off a single device. We will start at 19h with a game with everyone together; then at 19h30 we will break into smaller groups for chatting, or for more gaming, as you like. Feel free to join at either 19h or 19h30.
To join, please make sure you fill out the following form to receive your meeting link a couple of hours before the event.

At the end of the AGM we are looking forward to welcoming French cellist Sébastien Hurtaud.
Sébastien Hurtaud was born in La Rochelle, France. Influenced by his family consisting of artists and skippers, the focus of Sébastien’s career has been on classical music and traveling around the world to discover new cultures and new composers, and to imbuing his interpretation of cello works from past centuries with this knowledge and experiences.
His new album with UK Rubicon Classics mirrors his artistic musical journey. Sébastien’s new album featuring the Elgar and Farr concertos was recorded under the direction of Australian conductor Benjamin Northey. In 2016, the French artist commissioned acclaimed New Zealand composer Gareth Farr to write the concerto “Chemin des Dames”, and then in 2017, he performed the world premiere of this cello concerto in Wellington, Auckland with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
Sébastien will talk specifically about his last album.
